The Campaign

Following a small refurbishment to certain areas of the hotel, IHG set a brief of warm and inviting photography for both their refurbished and existing areas of the hotel.

The Photoshoot

This two day photoshoot took place as the hotel refurbishment was near completion. We photographed the hotels public spaces during downtime and bedrooms between Check Out and Check In. The aim is always to have little or no disruption to any guests enjoying the hotel. With the hotel employees on hand to dress rooms and remove furniture, the photoshoot went as smoothly as possible.

Hotel Photography: Exterior Twilights

Photographing exterior twilight hotels has inadvertently become a signature of my hotel photography. Hotels want a hero shot that's warm, inviting and most of all; eye catching. In the winter months these images are used to entice guests into the hotel from the cold outside.

Hotel Photography: Lobby & Bar

The busiest place in any hotel is the lobby and bar/lounge area. The most challenging aspect of photographing these hotel areas is when to shoot it. We have to balance the guest experience at the hotel, with wanting to control how everything is styled in the final photograph. If a guest walks in and sits down in the the frame, it's not our place as photographers to ask them to move. So the timing to these shots is critical!

Hotel Photography: Bedrooms

A huge selling point for most hotels are the bedrooms. The photographs of the bedrooms have to be perfect as it's where people will sleep and often the main reason they need a hotel for the night. They're the first photographs people visit on booking websites and represent the rest of the hotel. So they're worth spending time on so they look inviting in the photographs.

Hotel Photography - Wellness Facilities

Physical and mental wellbeing has become the front running theme for many guests in both leisure and business stays over the past several years. As many new hotels are being designed with wellbeing at its centre, it's increased the need for existing hotel stock to maximise the use of their pools and gyms. Photographing these hotel facilities in a pleasing and inviting way has become more important than ever.

Hotel Photography - Conference Facilities

The conference and event facilities at the Oxford Spires hotel make up a good chunk of their revenue stream. While these facilities were not refurbished, the hotel wanted fresh photography of the rooms to give the sales team some fresh collateral to promote the spaces.
