The Photoshoot
The brief was to capture two show home apartments and several exterior photographs to show off the quality of work that Grove Construction built and Clayton Interior Designs created on behalf of Ocea Life.
Clayton & Co (Interior Designers)
This photoshoot was not strictly Interior Designer Photography, it was more a photoshoot geared to creating real estate photography marketing collateral. However as the designers of these spaces, Clayton & Co deserve a special mention for making the show home photography a real treat to capture. Photographing for interior designers who know how to tie a room together in a simple and elegant way can really improve the image quality for a London architectural photographer.

London Interior Photographer
Photographing for contractors rather than owners can create a few handling issues. Timing wise it's important to photograph the building as close to completion as possible, but before contractors vacate the property. For a London architectural photographer, this creates a timing issue where snags are being worked on, stress levels are high as deadlines loom and having an interior photographer on site can be a spanner in the works unless it's handled professionally. Being a local London architectural photographer offers flexibility and means a second site visit is always an option if the building isn't ready to be photographed. For Furness House in Redhill, the show home apartments were available for photographing, but the exteriors still had scaffolding works around the parameter. This led to a second photography session on the South London commercial to domestic conversion.

London Architectural Photographer
The interior photographs of the London show home above were composed in a real estate-esk fashion. Use of wider angles help show off the layouts of rooms, and how the apartment functions as a whole. Traditionally not the prettiest or most creative way to capture a space, but perfect for the construction clients use. And perfect for a compact space like a one bedroom apartment. That being said, photographing the interior designers work in a pleasing way still helps to sell the lifestyle a potential home owner could enjoy.

Architectural Photographer, London - Why capture the Details?
Often an added bonus of photographing a well designed show room are the details and vintages that get created by the interior designers who styled the apartment. In this case, Clayton & Co did a fantastic job in the London show homes in Furness House. Styling photographs like these were not on the brief, but can add flavour and richness to social media posts or alongside copy on a website and something us interior photographers often look for. Budget allowing, they're something I always try to capture. They're also generic enough to be used on posts that aren't directly related to Furness House.

Show Home Photographer - Apartment Two
Being a London interior photographer often means multiple site visits in a single day. Capturing two apartments in the same building gives a real sense of the space the construction company and architects worked and designed around. Comparing apartments side by side, you can see the intent from the interior designers, creating spaces and themes within each area to help one space flow into the next.

London Drone Photography
Drone photography is an art and discipline I'm at the cusp of understanding. New vantages points, layers of composition and graphical elements all make for an exciting way to photograph a London construction project. Becoming a London drone operator will certainly be added to the services I can offer out to clients going forward
