Venturing into Video!

A friend of mine (Lindsay) has run Linden Tree Flowers in Brighton for several years. And while floral photography is certainly not in my wheelhouse, commercial photographs to help sell a product, very much is. Lindsay and I had a fun morning and afternoon styling and creating this instructional video and photographs while eating pastries to our hearts content :)

Videography

While photography will remain the speciality, venturing into video is an inevitable step. There are many overlaps between videography and photography; modern equipment, composition, lighting, storytelling etc. However there are enormous differences with movement, graphics, animation and cutaways playing the biggest part (for this video).

The Project

The aim for this project was to help Linden Tree Flowers sell their Christmas Wreath Build At Home kits for the festive period. These assets created - an instructional video and commercial photography - had three intended uses:

1. Website - The photos main purpose was to help increase the sales on the website. Linden have an e-commerce website and delivery logistics established, allowing them capacity to take on more orders.

2. Collaboration Content - Businesses are always looking to Christmas content with a difference and eye catching wreath photography is a perfect fit. The strategy was to find multiple complimentary businesses who could blog about how to build a wreath by Linden. 

3. Social Media - The target was to create eye catching images that grab the viewers attention and keep them interested, that drove traffic to the Linden website to purchase a Wreath Kit.

Lego Inspired Instructional Photography

The gold standard for any set of instructions is Lego. They're the crowned champions of easy, visual, step by step instructions that show all ages how to complete the task. Even though these step by step photographs would e accompanied by text, we wanted them to stand on their own as a visual guide through the entire process.

Christmas Colours

----------------

Commercial photography (for me) is trying to blend the style of the photographer with the image of the brand we're photographing for. As Lindsay & I are friends, we spent time discussing the look at style for these photographs and how they should tonally fit in with the season, while being eye-catching to draw attention.  Most festive seasons have a well defined colour palette and Christmas is no exception with it's warm tones with deep greens and browns.

Full Range of Images

We created and delivered a full set of instructional photographs in a variety of sizes and resolutions for various upload locations. The winter-selling window is short but intense, so we felt having multiple images on hand would solve any issues about resolutions or landscape vs portrait needs.
