The Campaign

GET UK have recently rebranded and needed fresh commercial photography to represent their more holistic approach to servicing the needs of the UK's solar industry. The commercial photographs were used in a nationwide marketing campaign.

The Photoshoot

The photoshoot took place over two days and several locations. Being a London commercial photographer often involves photoshoots like this that take place in London and around the home counties. 

Photographing Solar Panel Installation

The first step was to capture a live installation of solar panels being fitted to a customer home. The fitters were under a time pressure and could not easily pose for photos. Candid style photography does not often fit into a commercial photoshoot; it creates a challenge from a lack of control over posing, timing and exploring. But a photographers job is to produce results, regardless of the challenges on location. These commercial photographs will be used in marketing collateral by the sales team at GET to help explain the process of installing solar panels onto a roof.

Photographing Solar Panels - Finished Product

Final tests before final photographs of the installed products. GET wanted to show their quality and attention to safety through the images. All their products are rigorously tested and signed off by qualified electrical engineers.

For final product installs, we wanted visually eye catching images to show off the products in picturesque environments. While photographs weren't possible from the ground level, our trusty drone operator was on hand to photograph solar panels from the sky.

Commercial London Photographer: Domestic Solar Installation Property II

This London commercial photoshoot of installing solar panels involved the same team as the first project. Helpful, as we knew how to work together to both get the best results and not get in each others work day. Unhelpful as it's nice to have diversity in the commercial photographs we try to produce in the UK. We targeted a mixture of abstract / close up, drone images and wider shots (not shown here) to help Green Energy Together in their future marketing endeavours.

Photographing The Customer

Photographing customers is a captured testimonial. It shows people vouch for the brand by installing their product and having their photograph taken alongside it. It shows a trust and even an admiration for the business. 

As this commercial photoshoot was for solar panels, we decided a useful brand aesthetic would be to use natural lighting, or as natural looking lighting as possible, which is helpful when photographing the general public. Complex lighting sets and detailed posing instructions can often cause more problems when photographing people who are not accustomed to being photographed.

Domestic Solar Panel Photography

GET wanted an additional set of finished product photographs in a different setting. The images above are all of a village/rural environment, while below are commercial solar photographs in a more modern housing estate. These home solar panels were already installed. The final images will be used in targeted ad campaigns for specific areas across the UK.
